    Literature has a fundamental role in the formation of being, due to its humanizing role that comes from identification through the projection of experience, this point evokes the psychological function of literature that contemplates the need of being through fiction that since the beginning reflects the social and cultural moment in that is inserted. In this way, the work mirrors the author's experience, however the recipient does not have essentially the same experiences, which leads him to give new meaning to the construction presented by the artist. However, the reader needs to understand what he reads, the level of literacy and interest in reading has proven to be a problem, since school education, which tends to be based on the models presented by dyadic books, following a script that values speed, forgetting the need to encourage sensitive reading. Aiming at the need for other types of approaches to literature in the classroom, this article was based on the aesthetics of Iser's reception with a focus on acts of pretending to analyze the Court of Thorns and Roses series by author Sarah J. Mass, demonstrating how the relationship between work and the reader is established, presenting reception as a viable and effective means of awakening the reader's interest in works with themes and language close to current reality, while they are applied as a tool for interdisciplinarity and development of empathic awareness, through through expanding the individual's horizon with regard to traumas and human ills, ignored by the system and society.
