A major difficulty encountered by ranchers is the irregular distribution of rain during the year and the greater prevalence of animals with no defined breed pattern, causing the supply of low quality products and by-products in the market. Despite this situation, the creation of small ruminants in the semi-arid region becomes a socioeconomically viable alternative, since this practice has a strong expression for producers. The research was carried out from December 2018 to February 2019, with the possibility of interviewing the owners or managers of 65 establishments, of which 30 supermarkets, 16 establishments within the public market, 1 poultry house, 1 wholesale, 5 butchers, 3 agricultural stores, 5 bakeries, 1 salgadeira and 3 autonomous owners. Information on the marketing of products and by-products, frequency of receipt, quantity purchased by the trader and the type of slaughter used on those animals could be obtained. Among the establishments identified in the city, 85% were considered and 15% could not answer the questionnaires. Of the Establishments with potential for marketing meat, 21.73% sold goat meat, while 17.39% sheep meat. Regarding the marketing of viscera, the city's butchers represent 50% of the total marketing of viscera. In the case of the commercialization of milk and milk products in the city, it was possible to observe that in the city this type of product presents a low expression. As far as fur trading is concerned, its identification was possible in only one point of the city. Regarding the commercialization of manure, it can be seen that it has a low Expression in the agricultural and livestock stores, and it is possible to identify only the sale made by autonomous owners who seek and resell the product. With this, it is possible to infer that the trade of goats and sheep in Petrolândia - PE is marked by a low commercialization of these products and byproducts in formal places, such as supermarkets and agricultural stores, being more common to find these products and byproducts in butchers and public market.Item Avaliação do comportamento social e alimentar de ovinos jovens, com e sem as matrizes(2019) Freitas, Daniel Carlos da Silva; Ribeiro, Valéria Louro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2677739330576168; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5185887452546295The objective of this study was to evaluate the social and feeding behavior of young sheep with and without the matrices. Eight male and female animals, three and fiverespectively, with no defined racial pattern (SPRD), with ages ranging from six to seven months of age, were used. Behavioral observations occurred for eight hours daily, from 6 am to 2 pm for three consecutive days, with a five-minute record, using a stopwatch. For the identification of the animals were used yarns for making necklaces with different colors (blue, dark blue, yellow, orange, green, white, silver and pink). The variables related to social behavior, vocalization, integration with the environment, jokes and fights; and feeding, feeding time, rumination time, standing leisure, lying leisure and water consumption were recorded in an etogram. During the days of observation, two observers write the records of the behavioral variables and the third (fixed during the days of observations), to identify and record the other social and food activities. It is concluded that the separation of young sheep from their matrices can modify the social and feeding behaviors of the animals. Among the results obtained the social variables as interaction with the environment and vocalization; (P> 0.0001), between the treatments (animals raised jointly (mother and offspring) and offspring separated from their mothers and put in an attached picket), probably due to climatic conditions and the environment, separation of the offspring from their mothers, formation of a new social organization, etc. However, some variables such as total rumination time and total leisure time, there was no significant difference between the treatments, probably due to the preference on the side of lying down or the position of limbs and trunks, selection capacity.Item Caracterização da comercialização de produtos e subprodutos oriundos da caprinovinocultura no município de Pesqueira – PE com uso de aplicativo em dispositivos móveis(2019) Cordeiro, Sara Veríssimo Bezerra; Belo, Ana Maria Duarte Cabral; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9120227816308243; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5976500914216126The objective of the present study was to characterize the trade of goats and sheep products in the municipality of Pesqueira - PE with the use of mobile applications. The research was conducted through interviews with owners of commercial establishments in the municipality of Pesqueira-PE, carried out between January and February 2019, with the help of the application Zooquestions, which contains questionnaires related to the marketing of products and byproducts from small ruminants. The collected data were transferred to an Excel spreadsheet, were organized by means of mathematical and comparative constructions, in order to obtain the results. It was observed that only six districts of the municipality presented commercialization of products and by-products of goats and sheep. Among the products, milk, cheese, curd, meat, skin and viscera were found, most of them were informal commercialization, without complying with current legislation, where 93,75% of the slaughter was clandestine and 100% of meat were stored in an "in natura" way. The skins were marketed by producers and traders, the skin being clean, clean and salty without the criteria for purchase. Of the milk, 100% was commercialized in an "in natura" way, also emphasizing informal commerce. The cheese and curd sold were handmade, made from products and by-products mostly in the backyards of the producers' houses. In this context, it can be seen that the trade in goats and sheep products is significant and well distributed in the municipality of Pesqueira-PE, but has not yet reached the level of potentiality it presents, mainly due to informality.Item Caracterização da ovinocultura de corte em regime de semiconfinamento no município de Belo Jardim – PE(2024-10-01) Silva, Emanuel Isaque Cordeiro da; Monnerat, João Paulo Ismério dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3851426263880079; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8455592829863253The sheep meat production sector has established itself as an agro-pastoral activity of significant economic and social importance in Brazil, particularly in regions where the adaptability of sheep breeds to climatic conditions is notable. The semi-confinement system, characterized by a combination of grazing and controlled feeding, presents a viable alternative for sheep meat production, enabling better utilization of forage resources and contributing to the sustainability of the activity. In this context, the present study aims to explore the specificities of this practice in the city of Belo Jardim through a questionnaire designed and administered to local sheep producers. The objective is to collect data and characterize the sheep meat production system in semi-confinement, evaluating and discussing the productive and reproductive indices of the herd. Additionally, the study seeks to compare the productive data of one production system in the city to identify the potentials and limitations inherent in the production chain. Employing a methodological approach that includes quantitative data analysis, interviews with local producers, and direct observation, this research aims to understand management practices, adopted production systems, and the key factors influencing the profitability and viability of sheep meat production in Belo Jardim. It is anticipated that the results will contribute not only to strengthening the sheep production chain in the region but also to the formulation of public policies that promote the development of this activity.Item Comportamento ingestivo de caprinos e ovinos recebendo diferentes fontes de carboidratos associado à ureia em substituição ao farelo de soja(2018-08-22) Silva, Rita de Cássia Manso; Guim, Adriana; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5179137865818915; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0329511011280265Northeastern Brazil has a great ability to raise goats and sheep in the semiarid region, but there is a difficulty in homogeneous production of food during the year. The use of alternative food in feed that is adapted to the semi-arid climate, such as forage palm and manioc, can minimize the problem. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of different sources of carbohydrates associated with urea in replacement of soybean meal on the ingestive behavior of sheep and goats. Four goats and four sheep with permanent fistula in the rumen were used, arranged in a 4x4 Latin square design, receiving the experimental diets with different sources of carbohydrates and urea replacing the soybean meal. The diets were composed of four treatments: a) corn and soybean meal, b) corn and urea, c) manioc and urea scrap, and d) forage palm and urea. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and the means were compared by the Tukey test, at 5% significance. There was no significant difference (P> 0.05) in the ingestive behavior between goats and sheep. However, animals fed the diet containing manioc and urea showed a longer time in leisure (977.50 minutes / day), followed by the animals of the diets with forage palm and urea (845 minutes / day) corn + soybean meal (822.50) and corn + urea (821.25 minutes). The feeding and rumination efficiencies were not influenced by the animal species either by the diets. Thus, it is concluded that the association of energetic foods produced in the region (palm and manioc rasa) associated with urea does not compromise the ingestive behavior of goats and sheep.Item Implantação do sistema de produção de caprinos e ovinos na Estação de agricultura irrigada de Ibimirim-PE(2019) Florentino, Tamires Mayara dos Santos; Nascimento, Antônio Henrique Cardoso do; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5216997634308364Item Mapeamento do comércio de produtos caprinos e ovinos no município de Salgueiro – PE com o uso de aplicativo em dispositivos móveis(2019) Pereira, Fernando Felipe da Silva; Belo, Ana Maria Duarte Cabral; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9120227816308243; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1540055200828398The objective of the research was to evaluate and characterize the commercialization of the main products (meat, milk and by-products) and by-products (viscera, skin and manure) from caprinovinocultura, present in all the neighborhoods of Salgueiro-PE. Through the application Zooquestion, a structured interview was applied on the commerce of products and by-products from this activity, to the establishment owners of the city. After performing the field research and collecting the raw data, they were interpreted with the aid of descriptive statistics. A total of 95 food trade points were identified, but only 24 products or by-products were found from small ruminants. The municipality has commercialization of goat and sheep meat (67%), in addition to the viscera (25%), skin (4%) and manure (4%), milk and dairy products are not present in the city's commerce. Through the Easy Research application, structured interviews were applied to creators, marketers, and consumers on specific points that characterize the way of creation, the products marketed and the consumer profile. After the research, the collected data were interpreted with the aid of descriptive statistics. Goat meat and sheep as well as commercialized offal were found in 40% of the places interviewed, including refrigerators, informal markets (houses), and butchers. The commercialization of in 67% of establishments comes from their own creation. In the present study, 18.22% of the interviewees stated that they did not consume meat of goat and sheep origin. The answers mainly cover not to appreciate sensory, as well as not liking the taste and odor of meats. The evaluation criteria for the purchase of meat products by consumers are closely linked to the production chain, aspects related to safety, hygiene, quality and reliability, are important for the acquisition of meat. In view of which it is concluded that goat and sheep rearing in the municipality have poor sanitary management, given the low level of specialized knowledge, resulting in inadequate management delaying the prevention and control of diseases.Item Validação de um protótipo de balança automática utilizando o sistema walk-over-weighning em ovinos(2019-06-18) Nascimento, Hugo Fernando Araújo do; Carvalho, Francisco Fernando Ramos de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8552194153767195; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4011530135756687Given the importance of accurate and daily monitoring of individual body weight (BW), new investments have been made in research to find alternatives to static weighing (SW) based weighing systems. A key among these alternatives is the Walk-Over-Weighing (WoW) technology, where animals freely and spontaneously pass through an equipment that is strategically positioned to be attractive for spontaneous passages of animals without human assistance. The objective of this work is to analyze the performance of a prototype automatic scale that uses the WoW weighing concept. The prototype used in this research was designed by the researcher Eliel Gonzalez-Garcia (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique - INRA) the scale is aimed at small ruminants and equipped with tag readers that use radiofrequency technology for accurate storage of BW data. This experiment was divided into two distinct parts that complement each other. The first part was performed during the spring period with 42 Lacaune ewes of different ages and physiological states that were weighed in a SW to obtain BW as reference body weight (RBW), all animals were spontaneously directed to WoW in an indoor system where each animal went through the automatic weighing scale three times, where the WoW body weight value (WBW) was obtained. This first phase was characterized as the calibration phase of the equipment and training of all the team involved and lasted for two hours. The second phase consisted of the use of 237 Romane sheep of different ages and physiological states. In the first experiment the prototype was exposed to the transition period between spring/summer and a larger number of animals, since in previous experiments (GONZÁLEZ-GARCÍA et al., 2018a) the maximum number of individuals used was 98 sheep. The animals remained for a period of 29 days in the pasture, exposed to WoW and with limited access to water and salt stones within the area of attraction. The Bland and Altman concordance analysis method and the Lin concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) were used to establish agreement, correlation and reproducibility between RBW and WBW records, with the objective of validating the use of prototype of the WoW automatic scale for accurate and reliable data collection of animals during the spring/summer transition period in southern France (LIN, 1989; ALTMAN; BLAND, 1986). The CCC was used to establish agreement between PCW and PCR records. The results show that after respecting the period of adaptation to the equipment, the animals show a decrease in unwanted behaviors and together with the treatment of the database aiming at eliminating discrepant data caused by unwanted behavior and/or external factors that may harm the data, the correlation, reproducibility and CCC presented values between 0.95 and 0.99, demonstrating a high correlation between the two methods.
