    This article aims to address the problem of dropouts in higher education, in the context of the Economic Sciences college at UFRPE-UAST, looking for the crucial reasons that would lead a student to withdraw from the college. Through a bibliographic review and the application of a questionnaire to students of that college, data were collected that point out the possible motivations for evasion. They indicated that socioeconomic factors and school discipline would have greater weight in eventual decisions
