Déficit público brasileiro: Uma análise sobre a variação dos seus principais componentes no período de 2003 a 2018

In the context of the economic policies adopted from 2003 to 2018, this study analyzes the behavior of the main items that make up the Brazilian public deficit. The main items, both in terms of GDP and of importance to society, are Social Security Benefits, Education, Health, Infrastructure Investment, Public Security, National Defense, Public Debt and Public Debt Interest. , this work analyzed their growth rate, besides their magnitude, in relation to the GDP. Forthis, we used data with the methodology “below the line” from the Central Bank and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in addition to those that use the “above the line” methodology originating from the National Treasury Secretariat. Therefore, the conclusions obtained here may help the decision-making of public agents when applying monetary and / or fiscal policies,among others, by identifying the areas with the largest participation in expenses, thus enabling them to achieve greater efficiency and fiscal solvency.
