The university restaurants are part of public policies for the permanence of students of a social nature at the universities and, like all facilities of this type of occupation, they have high risks of fire and panic. The Restaurant of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco was created between the 1960s and 1970s and re-opened in 2010, however, its facilities differ little from its origin, which, together with the increase in the number of courses and vacancies in the public higher education institutions, increases the chance of an accident. In the internship report, carried out during the pandemic of COVID 19, at PLE 2020.3, information was collected from visits to the facilities and analysis of the floor plan and data of the regulars, key actors in the management of the establishment and the company outsourced contractor, with the objective of making a diagnostic assessment of the possible dangers. The results found point to a need to maintain the existing physical space in the short term and to implement other planned prevention systems, in addition to instituting preventive educational actions for the academic community.
