It has been present in human life since the beginning as a means of survival and over the decades it has become one of the most complete sports, due to its ability to contribute to the evolutionary process and work the body as a whole. This research is based on the following problem: What are the benefits of swimming for the motor, cognitive and social development of children? Its aim is to analyze the benefits of swimming for children's development in these aspects, in order to highlight the importance of practicing it in early childhood. The research methodology consists of a qualitative bibliographical review, which seeks to approach the subject from a social environment, through the understanding of other authors. The results of the research show that swimming can be practiced from an early age and is beneficial for various areas of development and health such as: psychomotor development, social and emotional relationships, self-knowledge, emotional control, improved muscle tone, circulatory and respiratory system, postural correction, and others. With this in mind, it can be concluded that through the skills developed during the practice of swimming, the child obtains an improvement in the quality of life, considering the benefits acquired through it.
