Este estudo propõe um debate historiográfico acerca da utilização do futebol pelos regimes ditatoriais brasileiros do século XX, em especial a Ditadura Varguista (1930-1945) e a Ditadura Militar (1964-1985). Busca-se analisar o processo de construção desse esporte no âmbito nacional, bem como sua relevância política e social. Além disso, discute-se as estratégias empregadas por tais regimes no uso do futebol como instrumento de propaganda e legitimação, assim como os resultados almejados ao explorarem a prática esportiva mais popular do país.

The article in question will deal with one of the most controversial periods of Brazilian historiography, which is precisely the time of the Estado Novo. For this we will need to understand a little more about the international context and the political changes that have happened in Brazil. From the bibliographic sources of the authors Hannah Arendt and Maria Helena Capela to they understood the political moment and how the use of the tools of the means of communication were essential as an instrument of repression in the period of the Estado Novo.
A propaganda política getulista: um instrumento usado pelo interventor federal Agamenon Magalhães em Pernambuco 1937-1945

This research aims to show the important role of political propaganda used in Pernambuco during the Estado Novo, by the federal intervenor Agamenon Magalhães. Specifically at the beginning of his mandate, between 1937 and 1940, a period that served to enhance and strengthen the image of the Federal government. Using the theoretical framework of Michel Foucault, with the perspective of power relations,The political, economic and social context of Brazil opens the discussion of the article, but it is the ideological and propagandistic issue of the Vargas government that is the main objective of this work. We also intend to show how the use of the press and propaganda were essential for Vargas' developmental project. In addition, we observe the use of repression and advertising resources at the time, whether state or private, to meet the interests of the current political project, with emphasis on printed newspapers, the archives of bodies such as the Department of Press and Propaganda (DIP) and the Department of Political and Social Order (DOPS).
