Clinical signs of this condition in dogs include polyphagia, increased fecal volume, yellowish stools, steatorrhea, weight loss, borborygmo and flatulence. Though there are several laboratory tests for the diagnosis of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, the gold standard diagnostic test is the trypsin-like immunoreactivity. Whereas therapeutic control of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is fundamentally accomplished by the replacement of pancreatic enzymes associated to an easily digestible diet. Front of the incidence of this pathological condition at the dogs’ medical clinic, it is necessary to constantly update this subject by students and professional of veterinary area. Therefore, the aim of this monograph was to report a case of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in a seven-year-old canine patient with a history of progressive weight loss, steatorrhea, and polyphagia. The diagnosis of the said case was established after trypsin-like immunoreactivity test submission, and the therapeutic control, instituted from enzymatic supplementation and dietary modification of the patient, resulted on the physiological formation of the feces and weight gain.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório (ESO), realizado no Hospital Veterinário Universitário da UFRPE e na Clínica Veterinarii (Recife – PE, Brasil).
