The Carrocracia phenomenon (TRÓI, 2017), that is, the despotic system in which we live and in which the car is at the center of the city's designs - in this case in Manguetown (Recife) - demonstrates a fragility of urban mobility in the capital of Pernambuco. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic highlight, in this scenario, the presence of overcrowded buses and subways, which contributes to the increased possibility of contagion of the population by the coronavirus, and the importance of the bicycle as a means of urban transportation. In our study, carried out during the pandemic, we did 10 bike paths on the Binary of Sítio da Trindade (north of Recife), from what we deal with safety and comfort conditions in the cycle lane in question, in order to offer elements to think about the urban mobility and its senses in Recife. Our study is based on the authors ELIAS and SCOTSON (2000) to account for the power relationship between drivers (established) and non-drivers (outsiders), considering the traffic flow in study. We also based on HARVEY (2013) and LEFEBVRE (2001), to address urban mobility as part of the right to the city. Although it is preliminarily noted that Recife has an aptitude to be the bicycle capital in Brazil, the implementation of the National Cycle Plan continues in slow steps, which reveals a distance to realize the right to the city.

Optimization of public transport networks by considering alternative positions for network stations
(2024-02-20) Montarroyos, Ingo Porfírio Pastl; Araújo, Danilo Ricardo Barbosa de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2708354422178489; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3644210138447014
Nowadays, the planning of metropolitan areas considers improving the quality of life of inhabitants and urban mobility is one of the main concerns. Studies point out that investments in public transportation and other modes are aimed at the overall improvement of mobility. However, there is a gap in proper tools for optimizing public transport networks. In fact, network optimization is an NP-Hard problem and there are usually many conflicting objectives that need to be optimized simultaneously. This paper proposes the use of manyobjective evolutionary algorithms to address the problem of public transport networks optimization, focusing on metropolitan bus lines. The proposal consists in optimizing the position of bus stops and consequently obtaining new routes that pass through these stops in order to minimize the average travel time, the time spent between origin / destination and the variance of distance between the stops. To evaluate our proposal, a simulator was used to simulate the behavior of different passenger profiles in an urban area and the results were compared between the lines obtained by the optimization process and existing bus lines in the city of São Paulo. According to our results, optimized bus routes have mean travel time 22% less than the existing route and the time spent between origin/destination has decreased up to 18%.

The adoption of active sustainable mobility habits is understood as a form of non-motorized mobility that only needs human physical effort to be carried out and has been increasingly used by society. The present study aimed to analyse the perception of the academic community of the Campus Dois Irmãos of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) to a shared bicycle system. The Survey-type questionnaire was adopted as a methodological strategy, structured in three parts and applied to students, professors and technicians with a link to UFRPE, and which were sent by email to the entire academic community from September 13 to 26, 2022, having identified the profile of the respondents, their vision and their acceptance of the proposed system. The research participated in 13 courses among the 27 that make up the graduation, with a total of 144 respondents among students, technicians and professors. The results showed that 78.47% of respondents spend up to about 40 minutes or more, daily, travelling the distances of the academic space, and approximately 86.80% travel on foot for 4 or more days a week, while 55, 55% of the interviewees affirm that they agree to make use of the Bicycle Share System, while 90.28% agree that a Bicycle Share System within the University is important and 88.19% agree that the use of this system can contribute to improving the mobility of the academic community.
