    The residency program in the professional area of health in veterinary medicine is a Lato sensu postgraduate course that prepares and trains professionals for the job market. It lasts for 24 months, with exclusive dedication and a minimum workload of 5,760 hours, which are divided into 80% practical and 20% theoretical-practical activities. The resident veterinarian also develops activities in collective health, focusing on the concept of unique health. In addition, it is allowed to carry out activities, for a period of one month, in another educational institution, and this activity is not mandatory. The objective of this study is to describe the activities carried out during the period of residency in veterinary anesthesiology at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, as well as to report a case of pediatric anesthesia in a dog submitted to thoracotomy to correct persistence of the right aortic arch.
