    Vitivinicultura tropical: manejo agronômico, vindima e vinificação

    This report is a summary of the activities carried out during the Mandatory Supervised Internship, which took place from January 2nd to February 19th, 2024, held at M M Agroindustry of Uva Ltda. (Vale das Colinas Winery), in the municipality of Garanhuns – PE. During this period, it was possible to participate in various activities related to the grape harvest and winemaking: agronomic management (irrigation, ripeness control, monitoring of vine health status, and fertilization), grape harvest (laboratory analysis of ripeness and harvesting), vinification of still wines (vinification protocol for still wines - grape reception, destemming, addition of inputs, maceration, pressing, settling, racking, preparation of yeast starter, and alcoholic fermentation). In addition, activities related to the management of young vineyards were carried out, such as pruning and training, shoot thinning, monitoring of vine health status, irrigation management, and fertilization. Vale das Colinas winery has a vineyard area in production of 9 ha and a vineyard area under development of 11 ha, with varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Muscat à Petits Grains, and Moscato Giallo in production, as well as Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Marselan, Viognier, and Gewürztraminer under development, on rootstocks Paulsen 1103, IAC 313, and Couderc. The training system used is the espalier with spacing of 2.7 or 3.0 m (between rows) x 1.0 m (between plants), and irrigation is carried out by drip. Through the completion of the Mandatory Supervised Internship, it was possible to apply academic knowledge and acquire practical experience in the Tropical Viticulture field, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco.
