(2023-04-26) Silva, José Gabriel Galdino da; Batista, André Mariano; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5615914349535394; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6167493443184332
Biliary tract disease can be caused by several factors, such as extrahepatic biliary tract obstruction, trauma, neoplasms, congenital anomalies, and pancreatic abnormalities. Both partial and total biliary obstruction allow an ascending infection to occur. The obstruction can also cause ischemic stenosis in the gallbladder wall, as well as the presence of bacteria can cause increased weakness in the gallbladder wall causing necrotizing cholecystitis and result in increased organ fragility that can cause rupture. The biliary tract disease usually affects animals older than 8 years and there are no reports of sexual predilection, but small breeds tend to develop the disease more. The treatment, when there is obstruction, is surgical; when not, there is the possibility of clinical treatment, but there is the need for constant monitoring to evaluate the development of the disease. The objective of this paper was to report a case of recovery and survival of a patient with ruptured gallbladder, despite aggravating factors and other comorbidities.
