    A balanced feed allows the animal to achieve good performance results and good carcass yield, with reduction in body fat deposition. Feeding represents the highest costs for raising rabbits. This is mainly due to the fact that the conventional ingredients used in formulating rations for these animals are foods for humans, such as corn and soybean. Alternative foods are being extensively studied so they can partially or totally replace the conventional ingredients. These ingredients are classified according to their protein, energetic and fiber levels. The objective of this study was to review the literature on the main alternative foods used in rabbit feeding.
