Item “Eis Que Vos Preveni”: ecos da bíblia judaico-cristã no romance Assunção De Salviano, de Antônio Callado(2019) Silva, Geovany Barnabé da; Bezerra, Antony Cardoso; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6960846544970318Novel as a genre, mainly in its Western bias, relates deeply with the Judeo-Christian heritage and references. The Brazilian writer Antônio Callado both knew and explored aesthetically that source. This paper focuses on the relation between narrative aspects of the Holy Bible and Assunção de Salviano (1954), the first novel published by the author. The development of the plot orbits around the communist political utopia and the catholic religious doctrine, two features which guide the very reading of the work. In light of the small amount of academic texts on Callado, papers which analyse his writings were taken into consideration; e.g. Marcos Martinelli (2006) and Geam Karlo-Gomes (2013; 2017a; 2017b; 2017c; 2018). Concerning the concepts and the theories adopted in the investigation, the contributions of Erich Auerbach (1997; 1998), Northrop Frye (1973; 2004), Hayden White (1999), Mikhail Bakhtin (1990), György Lukács (2000), Yves Reuter (1996) e Jean-Michel Adam & Françoise Revaz (1997) were employed. At every moment, the observation of the social and historical insertion of the novel and of its place in Brazilian Literature is the guideline of the research.
