Item Diagnóstico comparativo entre a histopatologia e a imuno-histoquímica de neoplasia maligna em membro pélvico de um canino da raça pastor de shetland - Relato de caso(2023-04-25) Silva, Aline Helena Albuquerque da; Oliveira, Andrea Alice da Fonseca; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2519790342576901; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4576494329697205The cases of neoplasms in pets show a significant growth compared to decades ago, being considered as one of the main causes, when malignant, of death or euthanasia among canines and felines. The use of existing diagnostic resources favors obtaining early results, positively impacting the survival of affected animals. Some neoplasms show a very marked degree of undifferentiation or anaplasia, requiring the adoption of immunohistochemistry (IHC) for diagnostic conclusion. The objective, with this case report, was to present a clinical case of neoplasm in the region of the interdigits of the left pelvic limb in a canine of the Shetland Shepherd breed, in which immunohistochemistry was necessary for diagnostic confirmation. The patient underwent surgical resection with amputation of the digit involved to reduce the chances of recurrence. IHC was requested for diagnostic confirmation after carrying out cytology and histopathology tests, which suggested malignant mesenchymal neoplasia and histiocytic sarcoma, respectively. The markers expressed by the cells ruled out the diagnostic conclusion of the histopathological examination. Therefore, it is concluded that immunohistochemistry is of great importance to confirm the type of neoplasia involved, preventing chemotherapy protocols from being erroneously adopted due to mistaken histopathological reports.
