    Entre a fé e a heresia: o jogo dúbio do padre Manoel de Moraes preso pela Inquisição Portuguesa no século XVII

    This article proposes to highlight the life journey of the priest Manoel de Moraes through the opposite paths followed by him. In light of the analysis of his process, transcribed and located in the Magazine of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Rio de Janeiro, we seek to understand how his attitudes led him to be expelled from the Society of Jesus and to be arrested by the Portuguese Inquisition. The relevance of the inquisitorial archives is highlighted in order to gain knowledge about Moraes and the activities he carried out while he lived in Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba and the provinces of the Netherlands in the 17th century. In addition, to recognize the relevance of the inquisitorial archives to understand how the Portuguese Inquisition was structured, who were the individuals prosecuted and how they related to faith and heresy.
