The present research has as its theme Understanding swimming as a content of physical education, and its problematization in the production of knowledge. Since my childhood, my parents have emphasized the importance of swimming for the sake of health and have always encouraged me to do it. In physical education classes, swimming seemed to be one of the most neglected subjects. There is awareness that swimming, in physical education classes, is often little offered by teachers due to issues. Schools that have swimming pools are scarce and even these are rare that offer swimming in regular classes. Swimming while the PE content lacks more amplified studies, consequently, there is a lower adherence to the content by the teachers, which directly implies the pedagogical work that will be carried out, ultimately harming the students who will hardly have access to knowledge.
