However, there are few papers that gather this information to specifically discuss the use of the dog in police actions. Therefore, the objective of this study was to carry out a bibliographical survey about the use of domestic dogs in policing, the factors inherent to this service and, mainly, to gather information to explain how selection and preparation of a K-9 occurs. called the canine trained solely for police employment. For the development of this work, an exploratory research was previously planned to answer the problem in question. A literary investigation was carried out that gathered 50 bibliographies of different textual types, of national and foreign language, dated from 1988 to 2018. At the end the discussion of information was succeeded by the construction of a bibliographical revision of the narrative type. Once the research was concluded, it was concluded that the police dog is employed in the patrol and detection modalities in which his physical and psychological abilities are exploited. The animal is previously selected in view of genetic and performance factors and then undergoes training sessions that work obedience and its congenital impulses. After that, before being officialized K-9, the canid goes through tests that evaluate the viability of its performance.
