Conexões – Um percurso entre o artesanato e as mídias sociais

This memorial presents the research, preparation and production stages of the documentary “Conexões”, made with the participation of crafts agents from Gravatá, in Pernambuco. As a general objective, this work sought to understand the limitations and challenges encountered by these agents with regard to the use of social media to publicize craft work resulting in the creation of an audiovisual product (documentary), with their testimonies and thus identify how they interact with the new “social media”. As part of the specific objectives, the work sought to train these local craft agents through training actions (workshops) focused on the use of tools associated with social media. In the audiovisual workshop offered to the Gravatá Association (PE), questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were administered in order to observe how the relationship between artisans and social media occurs and the results served as the basis for the production of the documentary. As a result, the research proposal is to present a reflection on the impacts of digital media on the dissemination of artisanal production considering not only the eyes of those who consume the products, but mainly through the eyes of those who are responsible for their production, the men and women that work with craftsmanship.

Bahia suffers from constant conflicts over land, which result in extensive photographic production on the subject, especially in relation to the work of the MST. This research aims to demonstrate the importance of photography in the struggle for land, especially that produced by the MST in Bahia. This objective is pursued through: bibliographical surveys on the importance of photography in image formation, surveys of the history of the MST's relationship with photography, discussion of the photographic production made by the media on the subject, conceptualization of criminalization and its relationship with the press, a survey of the photographs produced by the MST's communication in 2022 and, finally, photographic analysis. The methodology used consisted of explanatory research, i.e. bibliographical surveys were carried out on the subject, as well as image analysis, which was methodologically based on the categories present in the connoted message addressed by Barthes (1990): pose, object and photogenicity. Based on the results and discussions presented, it is considered that the photography produced by the MST has cultural and informational importance and is configured as a response to the criminalization movement carried out by the press. Self-representation thus shows the positive contribution of the MST to society through an internal vision.
