Seeking to better understand the behavior of a crucial structural component of wind turbines, the present study employs the finite element method to examine stress distribution in the wind tower flange under operational loads conditions without wind action and under extreme wind speeds as speciefied by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The results highlight stress concentration areas and identify potential susceptibility to fatigue failure, while also assessing the impact of these loads on the structure's integrity. Finite element analysis reveals stress distributions in the flange, with higher concentration susceptibility identified in external regions. The values obtained from this analysis, applied to a fatigue analysis, demonstrate that the flange's safety factors are high for the magnitudes of stresses encountered.
