    Os efeitos do setor público sobre a renda no Brasil

    The public sector exists to address social needs arising from market failures; in this respect, one of its functions is the distributive function. This work proposes to study the impact of the public sector's performance on the distribution of income in Brazil over recent years. In view of the complexity of this theme, one must compare different approaches to understand the effects of fiscal policy on different sectors of society. From this perspective, accounting data and public sector fiscal indicators were gathered, following from different analytical approaches. The analysis of the secondary data showed the excess of expenses, but low impact on the distribution of income.
