The main indications for hemotherapy in a feline patient are blood losses from trauma, anemia and coagulopathies. For the success of hemotherapy the donor selection according to its temperamento, health profile, updated immunization and body weight should be strictly followed, as well as, blood compatibility tests and/ or blood typing should be carried out before the blood transfusion, aiming to assure the health integrity of animals involved on hemotherapeutic process treatment. The monitoring of the recipient cat during and after the transfusion procedure is essential, since early intervention on eventual transfusion reactions may optimized the re-establishment of paciente health integrity.
