The present work aims to describe the activities carried out during the mandatory supervised internship (ESO), a mandatory discipline for completion of the Veterinary Medicine course at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. The internship was carried out in the Animal Reproduction Area of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, located on Av. Dom Manoel de Medeiros S/N, in Dois Irmãos, Recife-PE. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Gustavo Ferrer Carneiro and supervision of Prof. Dr. Maria Madalena Pessoa Guerra during the period from 05/29/2023 to 08/11/2023. Throughout the internship it was possible to participate in the routine of the Animal Andrology laboratory, accompanying and assisting in the performance of andrological examinations; semen collection and evaluation; Conducting tests to determine the freezing capacity of semen, evaluation of sperm morphology and reproductive potential aiming at final evaluation of the reproductive potential of the animals evaluated. In addition, it was also possible to follow the research activities developed at the internship site. From the lived experience, it was possible to develop comparative studies, with the objective of improving the techniques currently employed for the evaluation of PRP in Androlab, after the experiment a scientific article was written addressing a comparative analysis of the use of different manual methods with the addition of dyes for platelet count in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) of horses.
