    To prevent the onset of aggravation of numerous diseases and to promote a better quality of life for dogs, the evaluation of the body condition of these animals is of great importance. The objective of this study was to correlate the profile of the animals with the nutritional and environmental aspects to which they were submitted using the Body Mass Index and the Body Condition Score to determine the body condition of each animal. After the data were analyzed the animals were divided into three categories from the correlation of the data of the two parameters used, thus, 33% of the animals were in the ideal weight, 33% over the recommended weight and 10% underweight, the 23 % were the data that diverged between the parameters adopted. Therefore, the correlation of the two methods used provides a more precise opinion, since not only the weight but also the tissue composition of the animal cup, such as fat and muscle deposition, were analyzed.
