    Estudo das propriedades morfológicas e estruturais de CuFe2O4 e CoFe2O4 sintetizadas pelo método de combustão

    The study of advanced ceramic materials such as CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 has been, in recent years, of great interest, as it has a wide range of applications such as magneto-optical devices, contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging, and spintronics. The objective is to evaluate the structural and morphological characteristics of CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 synthesized by the combustion method. For the preparation of CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4, the reagents Copper II nitrate trihydrate PA, iron III nitrate nonahydrate PA, and Cobalt II nitrate (OSO) and Urea P.A as fuel. To carry out the combustion synthesis, two types of containers were used, the beaker and the silica crucible. Flame temperature analyzes were carried out during the analysis, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Electron Scattering Spectroscopy (EDS). The graphs of time versus average temperature showed that the flame temperatures and the reaction time of CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 for the silica crucible container were greater than the syntheses carried out in the beaker container. XRD showed that the synthesis of CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 achieved crystallinity and formed an cubic normal spinel phase. SEM showed larger particle size for CuFe2O4 (1 to 10 μm) and CoFe2O4 (1 to 5 μm) synthesized in the silica crucible. The electron EDS showed the composition of elements necessary for formation of the spinel phase of CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 produced in both containers. The synthesis of CuFe2O4 and CoFe2O4 by combustion reaction is reproducible for both analyzed containers.
