The Internet and social media play a crucial role in the current information landscape, revolutionizing the way society accesses and shares information. In this scenario, fake news has become a growing threat to the integrity of modern democracies, especially in moments of great political importance, such as the presidential elections in Brazil. In this context, this research aimed to evaluate the typology of fake news in the construction of public opinion in the 2022 presidential elections, from the second round onwards, and using the qualitative methodology of discourse analysis. Through this approach, it was possible to identify the construction and dissemination of false narratives, originating from platform X – formerly Twitter –, with the aim of manipulating voters' perceptions, exploiting emotional vulnerabilities and pre-existing ideological prejudices. Fake news has proven to be an effective tool in the process of political polarization, creating an atmosphere of distrust and uncertainty regarding democratic institutions, especially with regard to the credibility of the brazilian electoral system.
