Today, goat breeding and sheep farming play a very important role in the production of food of animal origin of high biological value such as meat, milk and dairy products, mainly to meet the food demand of the population of the northeastern semi-arid region. generation of income and employment for the region's creators. As there is growth in the production chain of goat and sheep farming, it is necessary to establish the development of new scientific and technological research that can increase productivity, reduce production costs and provide greater welfare for animals. The objective of this study was to evaluate prolificity, birth weight and weight gain in the first 24 and 48 hours after birth of Anglo-Nubian, Moxotó and Saanen goats and Morada nova sheep breed. The experiment was carried out in the period from September 1, 2018 to November 29, 2018, at Fazenda Cachoeira, belonging to the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA) located in the city of Sertânia-PE. In total, 63 animals were used, of which 47 were purebred goats of the races, Anglo-Nubiana, Moxotó and Saanen, and nine Morada Nova sheep. Of the 47 goats, 17 were Anglo-Nubian (9 males and 8 females), 13 were Moxotó breed (6 males and 7 females), 17 Saanen breed (8 males and 9 females) and 16 Morada Nova (8 males and 8 females). Anglo-Nubian goats presented prolificity of 1.45 calves / calves, the Moxotó breed was 1.50 calves / calf and Saanen was 1.46 calves / calf and the Morada Nova sheep breed presented 1.34 calves / calving. All birth weights were higher when delivered from simple births, as well as the weight of the animals after 24 and 48 hours were higher. The animals Morada Nova, Moxotó, Saanen and Anglo-Nubiana had excellent prolificacy rates and the animals born from simple birth presented weight at birth and after 24 and 48h superior to that of double delivery. On the other hand, the animals of the Moxotó breed presented the birth weight superior to that described in literature in similar conditions, whereas the animals of the Saanen breed presented a weight superior to that described in the literature, under different conditions.
