    The use of plants for phytotherapic purposes is quite old and their knowledge is passed on through generations. Phytotherapy has been increasingly used in veterinary medicine for ectoparasites treatment. It is more economical and less harmful alternative to animals’ health and the environment. The excessive use of chemicals has increased ectoparasites resistance to treatment and their permanence time in the environment. The plants availability for the veterinary medicine is quite vast however it requires more studies. Based on the problem present, this review aimed to report the main species used to treat ticks in the rural ethnoveterinary practice.
