There is rituality in any aspect of the human life. This refers to the organization and selection of actions, spaces, people, that are understood as following processes for a certain event. In the religious space, the ritual occupies a prominent place, because of its educational, doctrinal character and its transcendental nature. The “louvação de Oyá” is a ritual proper of the one Afro-Brazilian Religion called Nação Xambá. The history of this religion is closely linked to the coronation of “Orixá” Oyá Dupé by Maria de Oyá - the first priestess of the religious community Xambá. This coronation takes place at middday on December 13, 1932 by Mister Artur Rozendo: religious leader called babalorixá in your religion. This ritual was perpetuated in this religious group, by the second priestess “Ialorixá” Mãe Biu for more than 43 years, becoming an example of resistance to ancestry. The first religious temple in this community called "terreiro" was closed for 12 years and its leader was killed after a religious persecution of police, leading to his death. This persecution of African religions sought to prohibit people from professing their religion during the 1930s.This monograph was the result of the ethnographic research of this ceremony of the “Louvação de Oiá” on December 13, 2018 in the Temple of the Nação Xambá which is located at 65 on Rua Severina Paraíso, neighborhood of the São Benedito - Olinda. It was used as a theoretical reference for this monograph Mariza Peirano and Vadir Pedde, seeking to apply Stanley Tambiah's Theory of Performance to the referred ritual.
