Tanto as estações quanto os trilhos e o trem foram desenvolvidos e construídos pela a Companhia Britânica: The Great Western Railway Company, criada em 1835. Os trens partiam do Recife para chegar até em Salgueiro no sertão percorrendo entre as cidades: Vitória, Pombos, Gravatá, Bezerros, Caruaru e Salgueiro. Contudo, a estrutura das ferrovias foi desativada. Desse modo, o trem se foi, mas, as memórias e histórias dos cidadãos Gravataenses, não. Por este motivo, o intuito e o objetivo deste trabalho é lançar luz sobre as memórias e histórias vividas por estes cidadãos para que se possa preservar as suas memórias sobre a ferrovia como construtora de identidade e de história local. Dessa maneira, a construção deste trabalho se dará por meio da história oral utilizando como método o de entrevista como produtor de fontes orais dos entrevistados na cidade de Gravatá e também por fontes bibliográficas.The history of the train on rails that passed through the city of Gravatá from 1894 until the 2000s is in the memories, experiences and past experiences of those who have already taken the train passing through stations in neighboring cities of Gravatá located in the Agreste of Pernambucano. Both the stations, the tracks and the train were developed and built by the British Company: The Great Western Railway Company, created in 1835. The trains left Recife to reach Salgueiro in the hinterland, traveling between the cities: Vitória, Pombos, Gravatá , Calves, Caruaru and Salgueiro. However, the railway structure was deactivated. Thus, the train is gone, but the memories and stories of the citizens of Gravataense are not. For this reason, the aim and objective of this work is to shed light on the memories and stories lived by these citizens so that their memories of the railway as a builder of identity and local history can be preserved.
